Transitional Housing for Families Program
Operates a ten-unit scattered site transitional housing program for homeless women with or without children. Clients coming from the Center’s Emergency Shelter or the Women’s Resource Center Shelter receive rental assistance and supportive services while residing in scattered site apartments. Services include case management, assistance in acquiring safe housing, rental, and utilities assistance for up to 12 months, life Skills training and goal setting, furniture and household items, emergency food and clothing, art therapy, counseling and legal services, assistance with job training and education, linkages to community agencies, and recreational opportunities.

Provides thirty-day residences for homeless women and children who are in crisis which leaves them homeless. Services include shelter, case management, transportation, linkages to community resources, medical assessment, and health service referrals.
Eligibility: Applicants must be residents of Luzerne County for at least 6 months; women must be homeless without substantial resources and for reasons other than domestic violence, drug, and alcohol free, physically, and emotionally able to care for their children, and willing to assist with household tasks and cooperate in a shared living situation.

Provides shelter and supportive services to homeless adult males within Luzerne County. The program utilizes churches and temples throughout Luzerne County on a weekly rotating schedule to provide overnight shelter to this population. Program provides 16 fully furnished apartments for homeless women, three of which can accommodate a homeless woman and child. Rents are calculated at 30% of the participant’s income. Residents may remain in the program for up to 18 months. Case management is provided on site on a weekly basis to program residents and is geared toward assisting residents to attain self-sufficiency in order to transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
