Community Kitchen PGH

Community Kitchen PGH is a job placement training program. Their main program accepts people from all ages and from all over Pennsylvania with no cost to the student. They offer a combination of certifications and trainings from basic culinary to specialized culinary skills. Individuals in this program will be in constant contact with a case manager, who will work on life skills, barrier removal, IDP employment plan, and job placements. Further training includes 2-on-1 meetings with case manager, chef, and student. Students in this program are expected to attend classes Monday-Friday from 8am-4pm, but they do offer transportation passes and gas cards for those commuting. If you are accepted into this program (online enrollement form to apply), you will get a montly stipend of about $20/day, which increases with each tier of their program. Once the program is completed, students will obtain an additional $1,000, a chef’s coat, and a knife set. Benefits to getting into the program are having food stamps, unemployment, being 18-24 years old, and residing in specific zip codes (call for more information). However, these are NOT requierments for entry, they just are an added benefit for getting matched up with their grant-funded programs.
