
Goodwill of Southern Pennsylvania
Provides free services for 18+ individuals residing in Allegheny County. GED program (online or in-person, 17 year olds eligable with official high school dropout form), and ESL classes. Their tech academy provides basic computer classes, CompTIA certification for entry level IT work, and basic online workshops for tech education. Their job programs include: career services (for those needing help with obtaining employment), EARN programs (must recieve food stamps or TNAF benefits to be elegible), and supported employment (must be referred to by OVR office). Their transition department supports high school students (aged 16 or 18, he didn’t know, to 21 years old) with disabilities who can attend part of their school day at Lawrenceville office. Their youth work department has a range of programs for individuals aged 14-24 that rotate seasonally but are focused on helping individuals obtain their G.E.D. or help to find employment or job training. Their supportive housing program serves homeless individuals who must be referred by Allegheny Link. They also partner with North Common Ministries to provide relief for homeless individuals. Individuals seeking programs should fill out the request form for their various program online or call for more assistance.
