AIDS Law Project

They provide free legal services to residents of PA who are living with HIV or vulnerable to acquiring HIV. Practice areas include compassionate release for inmates; confidentiality of HIV-related information, drug and alcohol abuse treatment and mental health records; criminal records resolution; criminalization of HIV; discrimination against people living with HIV; financial and consumer debt; home ownership; identification documents and name changes; immigration; landlord tenant issues; public and private benefits, income replacement and health care; standby guardianship; testing protocols; unemployment compensation; utilities; and wills, living wills, powers of attorney. All calls are answered live during intake hours (9:30am-1pm) and referred to an intake advocate for a call back on the same business day. Calls after intake hours are returned the next day. Requests for assistance may also be made online at: www.aidslawpa.org/on-line-intake. Walk-ins are welcome on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and will be seen as staff availability permits.
