Catherine Law is the Chief Deputy of Trials at the York County Public Defender’s Office. Before coming to York County, she was a Senior Public Defender in Cumberland County. Catherine started her legal career as a Corporate Attorney at a law firm in Harrisburg before following her passion of providing legal representation to those who cannot afford it. She has a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Psychology from Miami University and received her law degree from Wake Forest University. She has participated in mock trial since high school and has won several awards, including top ranked attorney in the nation her senior year of college. Catherine now runs the Trial Advocacy Honors Society at Widener Commonwealth Law School. Catherine has years of experience trying major felony cases, including homicides, and is death penalty certified. In 2021, she was the recipient of the David R. Crowley Award for excellence in public defense. In 2024, she was appointed by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court as a commissioner to the Interbranch Commission of Gender, Racial, and Ethnic Fairness. In her very little spare time Catherine spends time with her husband, daughter, and dog.
