Sentencing Advocacy & Mitigation Writing Workshop

This interactive “bring your own work product” format training is designed as an opportunity for Public Defender attorneys, social service staff and mitigation specialists to work on their writing skills. Participants are required to bring their own work products to develop and receive feedback on during the training.

The workshop starts with plenary sessions, after which participants break into groups to workshop sentencing memos, mitigation reports or openings and closings. The goal is for everyone to come away from the training with a deeper understanding of how to communicate client life stories in compelling, creative and effective ways.

This year’s Sentencing Advocacy & Mitigation Writing Workshop will take place on March 13th.
