My name is Sarah Blum and I am an Assistant Public Defender at the Monroe County Public Defender’s Office. I have been a public defender for a year. Within my office, I handle the entire juvenile docket and work on a handful of adult cases scheduled for trial. Prior to being a public defender, I clerked for the Honorable Arthur Zulick in Monroe County.
I grew up outside Philadelphia and found my way to Monroe County due to my love of the mountains. I attended undergrad at Oberlin College, and went to Villanova University for law school. I had a rather untraditional journey to becoming a public defender, but have found I fit seamlessly in a community that cares deeply about the people we represent. It’s an honor to do this work and to dedicate my career to upholding the constitution.
Our mission is to provide tools, strategies, mutual support, training and information to Public Defender Offices in Pennsylvania; to be the voice of public defense in Pennsylvania; and to promote best practices in the leadership, management, and administration of justice in Pennsylvania.
