Emerging Leader Academy Public Defender Advancement Symposium
The Public Defender Association of Pennsylvania has created the Emerging Leader Academy to develop, train, and support a generation of new Public Defenders in Pennsylvania. The Academy focuses on best practices in holistic indigent defense and will serve to create a stronger infrastructure of defense across the state. This Academy is a yearlong intensive program open to a limited number of new-to-practice Public Defenders from 14 different counties across Pennsylvania.
The Public Defender Advancement Symposium is designed as an opportunity to demonstrate and teach Public Defender leadership values to Emerging Leader participants. There are two different components to this conference: Emerging Leader participants present on substantive issues they have researched over the course of the year, and faculty members present and lead discussions on leadership in public defense.
